Dosismart: radiation protection calculations on the web

After more than twenty years of calculation tools in Excel, Dosimex now has its web platform: Dosismart. The same validated physics, a new workspace — and a single subscription covering both.

Why Dosismart?

Dosimex in Excel has proven itself with more than 1,500 professionals. But needs are changing: working on your computer or your smartphone, collaborating as a team, keeping a record of what you calculated and being able to justify it six months later.

Dosismart addresses these needs:

• Accessible anywhere. No installation, no prerequisites. A modern browser is all you need, on any operating system.
• Calculation history. Every calculation is saved with all its parameters. Find it again, name it, flag it as a favourite, replay it or export it.
• Teamwork. Your colleagues join your organization and share the same workspace.
• Nothing to maintain. No version to download, no macros to reactivate. New capabilities ship continuously.

What you can calculate today

External gamma exposure covers the point source and six volumetric geometries — sphere, axial and lateral cylinder, disk, line and block — with self-absorption and multi-layer shielding. Three modes:

• Forward calculation: radionuclide, activity, distance and shields → dose rate
• Inverse calculations: minimum distance or shield thickness from a target dose rate

In the same plan, you also get:

• X-ray generator — dose rate, primary and scattered beam, equivalent thicknesses and the NF C 15-160 worksheet
• Sky-shine — the skyshine calculation, diffuser screen included
• Cylinder optimizer — at fixed volume, a sweep across many geometries to find the least-emitting configuration, with 3D visualization

The Compliance plan adds the RP officer’s regulatory documents: source inventory with automatic decay and SIGIS export, radiological zoning and dose-rate mapping (2D plan editor, zones computed per the order of 28 January 2020, PDF export) and the workstation study generator, ready for your audits and inspections.

What’s coming next

The remaining calculation tools are progressively migrating to the web: beta, neutron, gammagraphy and internal exposure. Until then, Dosimex remains the reference for those calculations — and your subscription already covers it.
